Jason Cox Biked 111 Miles!

Way to Go, Jason Cox!

On Saturday, July 16, the Bluffton Lions Foundation hosted the Eighth Annual Ride to Remember.*

The ride took cyclists through the Village of Bluffton, the Bluffton University Nature Preserve, the Schumacher Swiss Homestead, and the villages of Ada, Lafayette, Gilboa, Pandora, Rockport and Rawson.

There were three route options:  11-mile Fun Loop; 37-mile Ada Loop; 63-mile Main Loop with cut-offs for 23, 46 and 56 miles.

At 7 a.m. the cyclists pedaling the 100-mile ride mounted their cycles and started out on a rather soggy morning with downpours.

Jason, who rode for the first time last year, was impressed with the organization of the event and enjoyed riding for the good cause of building more bike paths around Bluffton—something his family uses frequently.  As a result, he was enthusiastic about participating in this year’s event.

Quoting Jason: “At the last minute I decided to start with the 63-mile route again, and keep riding as far as I felt possible.  Thanks to riding partners and many wonderful rest stops and volunteers, I was able to make it around all 3 loops for a total of 111 miles.

Despite the wet weather, over 200 riders attended the event, including myself [Jason] and Ben and Terri Stahl’s family.  With multiple route options, including riding around town on our wonderful bike paths, the event is fun for everyone.”

Ride on!
