According to The Lima News, October 19 was New Friends Day. It was a day to make new friends and strengthen old friendships.
Then, when I did my daily devotions, the title of one was “Fun and Faith.” I thought, Fun, Faith, Friends certainly fit together!
That’s why outreach projects are so important in the life of the church! We “know” each other on Sunday morning, but to really know each other is where you work with each other whether at a spaghetti dinner, food pantry, yard work, or upkeep projects; Sunday School class, choir, weekly breakfasts, and now weekly Blankets and Bears on Tuesdays.
While we cut, stuff, mark, and sew, our hands keep busy, but so do our mouths as we share our lives with each other. There’s also laughter as some of us are pretty funny!
Faith comes through as we who are members of the same faith work to reach out to others with our time, love, and caring. So, when there is an opportunity, reach for it. You’ll be glad you did.
